Call for participants to take part in PhD study: Crafting Together
My name is Mah Rana and I am currently studying for my doctorate in Psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London.
I am recruiting dementia carers to take part in a ‘crafting together’ research study.
Can you participate for about two hours over two non-consecutive days between now and the end of 2019?
The times and dates will be chosen to fit your schedule.
The study has been reviewed and received ethical approval from the Department of Psychological Sciences Research Ethics Committee of Birkbeck College.
I am recruiting dementia carers, specifically daughters caring for mothers diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia; both daughter and mother should have some previous textile craft experience.
Crafting is an activity that people often do on their own, but I am specifically interested in the experience of crafting together with another person.
My interest comes from my own current experience of being a carer for my mother who has Alzheimer’s.
Participating will include you and your mother doing your chosen textile-based craft activity together in your home. You will be asked to do the craft activity for between approx. 20 – 30 minutes. Examples of textile-based craft include knitting, hand-sewing, crocheting, and embroidery.
A couple of days after doing the craft activity I will interview you on your own about the experience of crafting with your mother. The interview is also an opportunity for you to talk about your own experiences of being a caregiver. The interview will take place at a location convenient to you. It will be completely anonymous to protect your identity.
If you live in London or the Greater London area and you think that you may be interested in taking part or would like more information then please e-mail at email@example.com, or you can call me on 07954 590 768
Contacting me does not commit you to anything.
